Antoinette O'Neill - architect

Born 1963 in Limerick.
Graduated in architecture from University College Dublin in 1985. Worked in London for Rick Mather Architects and in Berlin for Architekturbüro ELW before returning to Dublin to work for Derek Tynan Architects and, later, the Office of Public Works (OPW). In 1993 she began work in the field of architectural publications with Gandon Editions. She has been a consultant on architecture to The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon since 2000.

Projects & Prizes

While with the OPW, Antoinette O'Neill co-designed the award-winning Interpretative Centre for the Blasket Islands in County Kerry, completed in 1994. That year, her work was included in the Tales From Two Cities exhibition, shown in Dublin, Edinburgh, London and Berlin.
She curated A Room of One's Own, a touring architectural exhibition for schools, in 1998 and edited the accompanying catalogue. In 2002, she contributed to the European Forum for Architectural Policies in Helsinki and was instrumental in establishing one of Europe's largest awards for young architects -- the biennial Kevin Kieran award, an Arts Council/OPW initiative, worth €50,000 plus a commission.
