Didier Vermeiren sculptor

professor 'De Ateliers', Amsterdam & 'Kunstakademie', Düsseldorf


Since the start of his artistic career in 1974, his sculptural work has gained both a national and international reputation. It was published in numerous specialized magazines (a.o. Artforum, Art Présence, Art Press, Cahiers du Musée National d'Art Moderne, Forum, Forum International, Galeries Magazine, Kunst & Museumjournaal). Vermeiren's work was the subject of several monographic publications and was admitted in a number of important public collections.
Didier Vermeiren obtained public commissions for the Middelheim Parc in Antwerp (1993) and the Jardin des Tuilleries in Paris (2000). In 1999 his work was awarded with the "J C. van
Lanschot Price for sculpture 2000" - followed by the exhibition "Collection de Solides" in the Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, 09/13 - 11/9. 2003; a substantial publication appears in conjunction with the exhibition.
He was a visiting lecturer in different art schools (Antwerp, Bordeaux, Paris, Quimper) and is currently professor at "De Ateliers" Amsterdam and the "Kunstakademie" in Düsseldorf.
