Maarten Delbeke - engineer-architect

Graduated as an engineer-architect from the Ghent University (UGent, B) in 1993; doctorate in the history and theory of architecture from Ghent University in 2001, titled "La fenice degl'ingegni". An alternative perspective on Gianlorenzo Bernini and his work in the writings of Sforza Pallavicino" (2002); a revised version will be published with Ashgate (London) in 2004. Preparing, with Evonne Levy and Steven Ostrow, the publication of the acts of the international conference "Bernini's Biographies" (Rome, 6-8th May 2002).
He will be the Scott Opler fellow in architectural history at Worcester College (Oxford, U.K.) until October 2003;
researcher at the UGent and resident at the CCA (Montreal) in 2004.
Maarten Delbeke is the author of several publications on contemporary architecture and its relation to visual culture (a.o. in AS/Andere Sinema, El Croquis, Archis, AA-Files and "Young Architects in Flanders", in GUST ed. "The Urban Condition", 1998); author of "Aangenaam Verblijf" aa50 & cAD, 1997. He was co-curator of the exhibition "Homeward -Contemporary Architecture in Flanders"; co-author & -editor of the catalogue 1998, (Dutch and Italian editions in 2000) and of "Flanders Architectural Yearbook 2000-2001".
