Wim Cuyvers - architect

visiting lecturer Academy of Architecture, Tilburg
lecturer Ecole d'Architecture Paris Malaquais

Graduated as an architect from the Hoger Architectuurinstituut Gent (B) in 1982. His work, often remarkable because of the wayward interpretation and projective transposition of its prior conditions, has been frequently published (a.o. in A+, Archis, De Architect, S/AM, Flanders Architectural Yearbook) and exhibited (monographic exhibition deSingel Antwerp, 1995; numerous Group Exhibitions a.o: "Nouvelle architecture en Flandres", Bordeaux, 1996; "De rijkdom van de eenvoud", Brussels, 1996; "Homeward, Contemporary Architecture in Flanders" Antwerp, Bordeaux, Rome, Venice, Plymouth, 2000). He obtained honourable mentions in different design competitions and was laureate of the Architecture Price of Limburg in 1995.
Since his graduation he has been active as an author of critical essays on architecture and on broader cultural questions. He is the author, together with photographer Mark De Blieck, of an untitled book treating about the rear of public space (Yves Gevaert publisher, Brussels, 2002).
Cuyvers has taught in Sint Lucas Gent (B), Design Academy Eindhoven (NL). He is a visiting lecturer in Academie voor Bouwkunst Tilburg (NL) and lecturer in Ecole d'Architecture Paris Malaquais (F).
