Frans van Herwijnen - structural engineer

Frans van Herwijnen was born 1953 in 's-Hertogen-bosch.

He studied structural design at the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning of the University of Technology Eindhoven.

In 1978 he started his career at ABT consulting engineers in Velp.

Since 1988 he is consulting engineer and since 1992 also senior partner of ABT.

Since 1998 he is also professor in structural design at the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning of the University of Technology Eindhoven.

Several projects consulted by him were awarded:
The National Steel Award 1994 (Music Hall in Arnhem), the Concrete Award 1999 utility buildings (Royal Theatre the Hague) and the Concrete Award 1999 dwellings (Möbiushouse), the National Building Award 1999 (Project XX in Delft) and 2004 (Faculty of Theatre and Dance in Arnhem), the Aluminium Award 1997 (Academy of Arts in Arnhem) and the Schreuders’ Award 2003 (Faculty of Theatre and Dance in Arnhem).

At this moment his is involved as consulting engineer with the Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ in Amsterdam, the new headquarter of Rijkswaterstaat in Utrecht, the new headquarter of Essent in ‘s-Hertogenbosch and the new officebuilding for the Rijksdienst voor Monumentenzorg in Amersfoort.
