Professional activities :

I was given a position with the Public Works ministry in 1976, after taking a competitive public examination.


Offices and commissions :

Engineer with the office of the Commissioner for the areas struck by earthquake in the Friuli region.

Head engineer of the Siena office of the State Civil Engineers from 1978 through 1985.

In 1985, after having taken a competitive public examination, I was given the rank of First Engineering Manager with the title of Chief of the Engineering Office of the General Department of Waters and the II.EE, where for one thing I coordinated the activities of the boards for the compilation of the Hydrographic Basin and FIO Projects reports

The Merchant Marine Ministry gave me the charge to perform the duties of chief engineer for the program regarding the construction of Italian Harbour Office buildings

In June 1988 I was appointed a General Manager by the Public Works Ministry and then took over the functions of Public Works director for the Piedmont and the Val d’Aosta regions.

On January 1st 1989 I took on the functions of Public Works manager for the Lombardy region.

On June 10th 1989, as the result of a Council of Ministers resolution, I was appointed Chairman of the fifth section of the Higher Council of Public Works.

On January 10th 1990 I was appointed Public Works manager for Latium and Rome.

During the Council of Ministers session of December 28th 1991 my name was placed in the list of Section Chairmen of the Higher Council of Public Works.

I now chair the Commission on suitability for the buildings and real estate of ENASARCO (national board for assistance to commercial agents and representatives) and of the Treasury Ministry’s Institutes for Social Security.

I chair the residential building commission set up by art. 18 of law no. 203 of July 12th 1991.

I am currently seeing to tasks on behalf of the Foreign Ministry, regarding the construction and maintenance of Italian embassy buildings abroad.

In particular, this last-named activity has involved to date:

- Chairmanship of the working group that follows the works for the new Italian embassy in Washington DC.

- I supervised the restructuring works for the Italian embassy and for the Institute of Culture in Paris.

- On behalf of the Foreign Affairs Ministry I followed the scheduling of the works in the following embassies: Prague, Madrid and United Nations (in New York City).

On April 2nd 1992 I was appointed Chairman of the first section of the Higher Council of Public Works.

By decree of the Prime Minister I was appointed Counsellor seeing to the coordination of the Department of Urban Areas and of the Office of Rome as Capital.

On May 14th 1996 I was appointed General Director of the Office for Soil Protection.

On October 31st 1996 I was appointed Chairman of the Fifth Section of the Higher Council of Public Works.

On behalf of the Public Works Ministry I am responsible, together with the Cultural Affairs Ministry, for the engineering management of the areas struck by earthquake in Umbria and The Marches.

I acted as assistant to the Hon. Undersecretary of Public Works, himself acting as delegate for the Minister, for handling the Jubilee outside of Latium.

I was the representative of the Public Works Ministry to the Special Commission for the Jubilee, set up with the Prime Minister’s Office.

On April 1st 1998 I was appointed Public Works Director for Latium.

By order no. 314/21/82 of January 11th 2001 the Minister appointed me as Director of Public Works for Umbria.

During academic year 2002 I was professor on contract with the La Sapienza campus of the University of Rome, Faculty of Architecture in Valle Giulia – for a course in the curriculum for a degree in architecture regarding “The management of the building-construction process - Management procedures and techniques in the public administration.

By Prime Minister’s Order no. 3303 of July 18th 2003, published in the Official Gazette of August 4th 2003, I was appointed Assistant Commissioner for the Gran Sasso Emergency situation.

I was appointed General Director of the Integrated Infrastructures and Transport Service (SIIT) for the regions of Latium, Abruzzo and Sardinia by Decree of the President of the Republic dated October 6th 2004.
