Francesco Cellini - architect |
Born in Rome on April 18, 1944
Degree in architecture from the faculty of Architecture in Rome, 1969.
From 1972 to 1986, Assistant Professor in Architectural Composition at the faculty of Architecture in Rome, to Ludovico Quaroni and then Carlo Aymonino
In 1987, full professor of Composition at the faculty of Architecture in Palermo
Since 1994, professor at the faculty of Architecture at the University of Rome Tre.
In 1997, elected chairman of the faculty of Architecture at the University of Rome Tre
Member of the Accademia di San Luca. Has published various treatises and critical articles in sector magazines; served on the editorial board of the magazine "Controspazio" from 1976 to 1981; is currently a member of the editorial committee of "Casabella."
Has curated several important architectural shows as promoter and scientific manager:
Show on Ridolfi and Frankl, Terni 1979
International Show "La presenza del passato della Biennale di Venezia (The Presence of the Past at the Venice Biennial), 1980 (then in Paris and San Francisco)
International Show "Architecture of Islamic Countries," Venice Biennial, 1982.
Has had a lengthy professional career: more than one hundred and fifty projects of various kinds and different levels of complexity; has participated in and qualified for numerous national and international competitions; much of his work has been provided on behalf of many of the most important Italian design companies (Bonifica, Italconsult, Sviluppo-tecnica Sogene, Progres, R.P.A., Condotte, Tecnosinesis, etc.).
Francesco Cellini's design work has been published in various books and magazines (Italian and foreign), reviewed by various critics (M. Tafuri, P. Portoghesi, etc.) and exhibited in numerous international and national shows (Venice Biennial 1980, 1982, 1985, 1988; Paris Biennial-Fall Show, 1984; Milan Triennial 1986; DAM-Deutsches Architektur Museum, Frankfurt 1988, Creativitalia, Tokyo, 1990, Milan Triennial, 1995 and 1996, etc.); some of his designs were acquired by DAM.
In 1991, Francesco Cellini received the Venice Biennial's international prize for his design of the Italian Pavilion. In 1996, he received the "President of the Republic" prize for architecture. He is a member of the Rome Association of Architects.
